Orbi network speed dropped to 9 Mb/s
Main Post:
My Orbi speed dropped from 250 Mb/s to around 9 Mb/s earlier tonight without reason, so I reset my Orbi system. This knocked the sattelites out and I turned them off an on about 8 times before they actually reconnected. I didn't change anything before this all happened, but even after resetting my entire network, including my modem, I'm still locked to 9 Mb/s. I called Netgear and they told me to change the 2.4Ghz to channel 11, which did nothing, and try to upgrade the firmware, which I can't because my Orbi says I have the latest version. I tried doing a factory reset on some my sattelite, but it won't do anything beyond turn off and turn back on - it keeps the same settings and doesn't actually factory reset. I tried turning beam forwarding on and that also did nothing. What is going on here? I'm so confused and this makes no sense whatsoever. At the point of trying to RMA the whole system out of frustration because it's caused me so many issues over the last 6 months. What can I even do? What would cause it to just decide to drop 96% of my connection speed for no reason whatsoever?
Top Comment:
- which Orbi do you have? You can get the latest firmware from Netgear website. Just Google:
Orbi <your model> firmware download
2) what's speed do you get running a speed test from Orbi admin web dashboard?
3) have you tried resetting your internet modem?
Australian! Sitting my COMPTIA Network+ on 9 October :)
Main Post:
Hi CompTIA Community,
It's been so great finding this forum. I thank all of you for contributing here, it's helped me find amazing resources and encouragement to sit the Network+ exam at the start of October.
I would like to give back before I sit my exam and then I'll also update when I've got my results! I am feeling confident!
Background: Cyber Security Cert IV student, for the non-Aussies, this is a year long study which is basically an intro to the cyber world with no prior IT knowledge or know-how. I am sitting the Network+ as it's a part of the short course I am currently doing with a Digital Jobs program my state is running. If you live in Victoria, I suggest you Google "Digital Jobs Program" and apply if you are over 30 years old and looking to change careers. You will get 12 weeks study (free) and 12 weeks placement "Internship" which is paid. I am being placed with a large superannuation group and being paid $57k+super for my internship - amazing. All the likelihood that I will stay on afterwards too.
My suggestions for study.
- FREE - Professor Messer - Youtube, Spotify (Q&A classes). He is by far, the best at explaining concepts and his Spotify Q&As are amazing, as he not only tells you why an answer is right but also why the other answers are wrong. More learning with less Questions.
PAID - Professor Messer - Network+ Study Notes. His videos in note form.

2. FREE or PAID - This is for everyone, I know you've heard of TryHackMe and HackTheBox but have you heard of Mosse Cyber Institute? It's Aussie. The dude that runs it states on his LinkedIn that he wants to train 1 million future Cyber experts. There is a "Remote Cyber Internship" you can do. It's $50USD but if you're female, you can waive the fee. These are real-world practical exercises where you will be setting up VMs and performing attacks against them etc. Best thing about it, you then submit your work and one of their team actually has to mark it. So you get feedback and "pass" and "fail/redo". I couldn't recommend this enough. It's amazing and you will learn so much when you get things wrong. It ain't easy! It's challenging and very rewarding when you nail it.

3. PAID (CHEAP ON SPECIAL) - Jason Dion - Network+ - 6 exams. If you're at the point where you really feel like you could sit some practice exams and see where you're at, these are BY FAR the best and from all reports, most like the real exams. They will put you in a scenario and make you think about what THE BEST answer would be, much like the real exams. Challenging and really make you realise how much you actually understand about the concepts rather than how you can remember what an acronym means. If you start out at 50% this is really good. When you review the wrong answers at the end, he also explains why answers are right and wrong, like Messer, so you learn about the wrong answers at the same time.

4. PAID (CHEAP ON SPECIAL) Here's one I haven't seen many people talk about. Do you want some really great PBQs (Performance Based Questions) that are going to be very much like the real ones.... Plus some great MATCHING and COMMAND LINE based questions. Just like the real ones! And challenging! Pearson do an AMAZING download for both Mac and PC. If you Google a discount code, I ended up paying $30USD for it and it's 100000% worth it.

5. FREE - Download CISCO PACKET TRACER and do their intro course. This is going to teach you how to set up a real network, use the CLI in routers / switches to set up VLANs and ACLS. Something a lot of people have mentioned in here stumps them when they get to the PBQs.
https://www.netacad.com/courses/packet-tracer
6. FREE - Download the offical CompTIA Network+ Exam Objectives. Every single person - Messer, Myers, Dion - anyone who knows! - will say how important these are as they spell out exactly what you need to know to be able to sit this exam. These line up with the Messer, Myers, Dion videos - the subject (3.1) is the same across all these videos, so if you're looking at the exam objectives and you need to go to (3.1) of a Messer Video, it will be the same.

7. FREE - ANKI Flashcards. I use these for studying things that aren't sticking. You can create as many as you want and even put them into sections - "Wireless Standards" etc. I add to these during the day and then revise last thing at night.
https://www.comptia.org/certifications/network
8. FREE - Subnetting. I know everyone says it's these guys but it truly is. You only need to remember one small chart. FOR EVERYTHING - /1 to /32. Simple. Once you get it, you've got it. Practice and Practice until it takes you a few minutes to do ANY equation. Even those nasty VSL or Class A ones.
Watch ALL the videos. Then practice some more. There's a great link below also for when you want random subnetting practice. AWESOME. Look no further to understand subnetting. By all accounts you will not get anything out of the out of the (C) class on the exam and also you won't be dealing with any IPv6 problems except for truncation. Which these guys also explain :)

Good luck to all you exam takers in the coming months! I look forward to reading about your experiences and hopefully some of this info will help your studies :)

Thanks so much for this post, it's full of valuable information. I'm actually 36yo ex IT admin who lives in Melbourne and currently out of work looking to get back into the industry. I had no idea about the digital jobs program, but thanks to you I'll be applying tomorrow.
Any tips you can share? I have a cert IV in IT Desktop Support and about 5 years network admin. Been in construction for the past 5 years though. I'd like to apply for security or developer path, Unsure. Thanks again!
OnePlus 9 pro LE2123 mobile network connected but no internet
Main Post:
Hi, im such a beginner at lineage os and android that I probably don't know how to ask for help in a good way, I'll try my best here.
Yesterday I installed lineage os from here https://download.lineageos.org/lemonadep I picked the latest version of the zip and recovery when following the installation guide. Everything went fine, and I set up the phone. Once I left my wifi I noticed that I didn't have an internet connection, I enabled mobile data, the phone found my provider's 5G network and connected but I still can't access the internet. Everything else works well, WiFi/calls/text.
So the phone finds the correct network and seemingly connects, but I've got an exclamation mark next to the 5G and no access.
I've tried the usual quick tests, turned the connection on and off, restarted the phone, changed to preferring 4G, but that doesn't work.
What's the next steps in trying to debug this? I was planning on picking the second latest version of the os and trying that out, but before that I wanted to post to see if there's something stupid that I might have missed. Any ideas?
[Solved] Wrong APN, changing to the correct one immediately fixed it
Top Comment: u/SuspiciousSegfault - OnePlus 9 pro LE2123 mobile network connected but no internet If it's not grayed out as some MVNO do, check > Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network > Advanced > Access Point Names > APN > and make 100% sure that they are identical to your network provider's current recommended settings then turn off the device, wait a few seconds, turn back on, then send an SMS before receiving one.

Migration step 9, KYC Status, Pi Lockup! Here is what you need to know
Main Post:
Hi Pioneers,
Again with new explanations about the mainnet checklist step 9 and KYC status.
There are many questions about the migration status, and why some get migrated before others. Also, many questions about the KYC status.
First, KYC Status:
If your status is in a form like "Under review, In progress, processing, etc."
• This means: your KYC is not approved yet, there is no specific time to be approved, and all you need is to wait patiently.
• If there are any issues with your KYC process, you will see a red color with a notice requiring you to do actions like re-submit your KYC and correcting the wrong information. The notice will tell you exactly what is wrong. So, don't assume things and be afraid for nothing.
If your status is in a form like "Tentative Approval, Processed, Validating, etc."
• This means: your KYC is approved and you need more validation by validators in your area or who have the same nationality as you, so they can confirm your documents match your country and you comply with KYC requirements.
If your status is "passed" or was passed but back to "Tentative Approval"
• This means: your KYC approved and have been validated by validators. But some validators who validate your KYC are not from your area or the same nationality as you. So, KYC needs more validations.
• Also means: the network needs more preparation for your next migration to the mainnet (whether the first time or second time).
The Solution:
There is no solution because there are no issues, and don't let scammers manipulate your mind. No one can help you. All you need to do is wait patiently, that's all.
Second, Mainnet checklist step 9:
If your step 9 in orange
• This means: you already passed the KYC, whether it has been validated or in tentative approval.
If your step 9 in green
• This means: you already migrated first time, and you are in queue for next migration.
The Solution:
You don't need to do anything at this point, whether it's your first migration or the second. Scammers will pretend they have a solution, but there is not. No one can do anything about it. Believe me, you will be migrated once your turn comes up if you already completed all the 8 steps on the mainnet checklist and your account is not involved in violations.
Do we clear now? good, let's go to the lockups because this part is the most important.
Third, Pi lockups:
Dear Pioneer, whether you are mining for years or yesterday, it doesn't matter. If you commit to lockup, still, commitment, no one can change that you must accept your choice. The Pi Core Team made a clear notice before making any actions on setting lockup, and you agreed to it by your own self.
There is nothing called "By mistake, or I didn't read it, or I didn't understand it" you choose by your own self, and the notice was in front of you before clicking on "commit Lockup" button.
I saw many scam posts and videos on social media, starting from Binance Square to the X platform, including Reddit here, tricking Pioneers in traps to scam them by pretending there is a legitimate way to unlock their Pi.
How does that work? scammers are smart and some are geniuses and can manipulate you easily in different ways that the devil himself would be shocked by them. So, what will they do to trick you?
Because many users desperately want to unlock their Pi after they made a commitment for a long term. Scammers use your emotions by posting wrong news and analysis about Pi like Pi will fail and crash to 0, and show you that if you sold today you will be safe better than wait and lose everything, so in this way you will start to search for a way to unlock your Pi to sell it before it get crashed to 0.
Scammer will write a post or make a video showing you that if you send an email to the Pi Core Team, they will unlock your Pi. And the scammer will mention fake email like (PiCoreTeam.Support@xxxxx.***) or even use one on a fake domain like (support@pient.***) < letters not in the right order, you may not see that.
And of course the scammer will not care if you are smart or not, because if you send an email to the official Pi Core Team they will not respond to you among 60M Pioneers sending the same question repeatedly 7/24. So, there is a big chance to send your email to the fake email and without a doubt, you will be answered in a professional way, and asked for your wallet key phrases in order to help you unlock your lockups
Once you give him/her your wallet keyphrases, you will be ignored. Because the scammer now has your wallet and is waiting for Pi unlocked by the end of the lockup duration, and transfer your Pi to another wallet.
The Solution:
There is no solution and no one can unlock your locked Pi, even the Pi Core Team itself. Yes, even The Pi Core Team because they won't change their rules for you among 60M Pioneers.
Finally, do not ever share your 24-keyphrases and don't be like a drunk fish in wine leak. Focus and be smart and keep your Pi safe.
No one can scam you if you did not share your keyphrases. And if you scammed, don't swear that you never share it. Because we all know the truth and instead of waisting your time simply create a new wallet and re-sign it to your account by repeating steps 3 and 6 then wait in the line like us until your new wallet gets migrated.
Have a nice day all, don't take my post personally. It's for educational purposes, no offense.
